10/14/24 - 10/18/24

Ask your learners to show you their current IXL learning levels in ELA and math and encourage them to work on skills that will specifically benefit them.  These skills can be found under the assessment tab on the Action Plan.  Skills found in the Action Plan are tailored for your learner at their exact level.  We will update these learner levels with short weekly diagnostic sessions, so they will always be current.  Additionally, we have begun to use our AMIRA online reading tutor.  Using AMIRA at home is a great way to provide extra reading practice for those students who need it.

Reading:  We are wrapping up our first module.  Next, we will tackle explanatory writing, which is a type of writing that explains a topic to an audience by sharing knowledge and ideas.

Science:  Mrs. Gemmell will continue to work with us in our "Let's Make a Lava Lamp" unit.  In our October STEM activity, we will design and build a small prototype of a literacy station that can be placed in a public area to encourage book-sharing and reading.

Social Studies:  Chapter 4 of the textbook is called "Spain Builds an Empire."

Math:  Our first unit will be a combination of Bridges Unit 1 and Unit 6.  Unit 6, Module 3 will help us understand volume.  Then we will jump back into Unit 1, Module 4 which is "From Multiplication to Division."  After Unit 1, Module 4 we will have our first unit test.
