SEL:  In December, we will use our SEL time to work on the learner characteristic of collaboration.

Reading:  Our second module is called What a Story.  Our essential question is "How does genre affect the way a story is told?"  We will use stories, plays, and poems in our reading workbook to practice reading strategies, learn vocabulary, answer comprehension questions, and practice our RACES paragraph response writings.   There will also be short grammar lessons sprinkled throughout our week.  Don't forget Into Reading has an online component.  Students can reread our stories and practice vocabulary under the "Assignments" tab in Into Reading.    

Science:  The next module is split into two parts, including "Earth's Place in Space" and "Stars and Their Patterns."

Social Studies:  Chapter 5, Lesson 2 is called "New European Colonies," and Lesson 3 is "The First Colonies."  

Math:  Our Unit 3 test will be during the week of December 1st.  Click here to learn more about this unit.

SEL:  In November, we will use our SEL time to practice gratitude and focus on the learner characteristic of empathy.

Reading:  Our second module is called What a Story.  Our essential question is "How does genre affect the way a story is told?"  We will use stories, plays, and poems in our reading workbook to practice reading strategies, learn vocabulary, answer comprehension questions, and practice our RACES paragraph response writings.   There will also be short grammar lessons sprinkled throughout our week.  Don't forget Into Reading has an online component.  Students can reread our stories and practice vocabulary under the "Assignments" tab in Into Reading.

Math:  Unit 3 is all about unit rates and percentages.  Our Lesson 1-8 quiz will be on Monday, November 17th.  We won't be able to squeeze in our Unit 3 test by the end of November.  We'll have to tackle this in early December.  Click here to learn more about this unit.

11/10/25 - 11/14/25

 

SEL:  In November, we will use our SEL time to practice gratitude.

Reading:  The students will wrap up their five-paragraph explanatory essays.  Into Reading Module 2 is up next! 

Science:  We will move into the next module called Earth and Space.  Earth's Place in Space will be our first topic.

Social Studies:  Chapter 5 is called "The Struggle to Found Colonies."  The first lesson is about the colony of Jamestown, and the second lesson will teach us about other European countries and their North American colonies.  

Math:  Unit 3 is all about unit rates and percentages.  The quiz will occur after the 8th lesson.  Click here to learn more about this new unit.
