12/9/24 - 12/13/24

MAP Testing: Our ELA winter MAP test will be in the morning of 12/10, and our math MAP test will be in the afternoon of 12/12.

Reading:  You can support our ELA series at home by reinforcing the words prose, dialogue, climax, and foreword in conversation.  Use prompts like these:  What was the climax of your weekend?  Describe what dialogue looks like in print.  Quiz your learner on our growing list of Critical Vocabulary words that can be found in the reading notebook.  Look for words with the prefixes re- and fore- and the suffixes -ful and -ness in books, magazines, and online.

Science:  Last week, the students did a wonderful job collaboratively creating mini parade floats.  Next, Mrs. Csorba will help us use coding to design a parade route.  The goal is for students to use an Ozobot to move their float along a route.  Additionally, we'll be using Mystery Science to help us think like scientists.  "Natural Disasters" is our current topic.

Social Studies:  Chapter 5 of the textbook is called "The Struggle to Found Colonies."

Math:  Unit 2 Module 4 is about least common multiples (LCMs) and greatest common factors (GCFs) which can be difficult for some students.  Then we will go back to Module 2 to use what we learned in Module 4 to help us find common denominators.
