Reading: The students are working on their own explanatory essays, a type of writing that explains a topic to an audience by sharing knowledge and ideas. We will use this writing to work through the steps in the writing process.
Science: Mrs. Gemmell will continue to work with us in our "Let's Make a Lava Lamp" unit. Additionally, we'll be using Mystery Science to help us think like scientists. "Inventors at Work" is our current topic.
Social Studies: Chapter 4 of the textbook is called "Spain Builds an Empire." We are using the textbook to learn how to read, take notes, and summarize nonfiction texts.
Math: Unit 2 Module 1 is all about adding and subtracting fractions, and Module 4 is about least common multiples (LCMs) and greatest common factors (GCFs) which can be difficult for some students. We will go back to Module 2 after Module 4.
