SEL:  Much of our morning meeting discussions this month will revolve around Black History Month.  

Reading:  Our focus will be on grammar this week.

Science:  We have completed our first science unit!  Up next is a unit on matter with an essential question of "How can you make the best pancakes?"

Social Studies:  Chapter 5, Lesson 4 is "The 13 English Colonies."  Additionally, we will be spending some of our social studies time working on a Native American research project.  

Math: Unit 5 is all about decimals.  The quiz will occur after Lesson 8.  Click here to learn more about Unit 5.

MAP Testing:  We will take the ELA MAP test on the morning of 1/27 and the math MAP test on the morning of 1/29.

SEL:  Being an effective communicator is our January learner characteristic focus.  Additionally, we will spend time studying Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 

Reading:  Our focus will be on grammar this week.

SEL:  Being an effective communicator is our January learner characteristic focus.  Additionally, we will spend time studying Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 

Reading:  We need a couple of days to wrap up our work with The Poem That Will Not End.  Then we will focus on some grammar lessons.

Science:  We are nearly finished with "Stars and Their Patterns."  After a hands-on way to show our learning, we will move into the next unit.

Social Studies:  Chapter 5, Lesson 4 is "The 13 English Colonies."  

Math: As of now, it looks like our Unit 4 test will be on Wednesday, January 21st.  Click here to learn more about Unit 4.

SEL:  Being an effective communicator is our January learner characteristic focus.  Additionally, we will spend time studying Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 

Reading:  This week, we will use a poem to practice reading strategies, learn vocabulary, answer comprehension questions, and practice our RACES paragraph response writings.   

Science:  We have made it to the "Stars and Their Patterns" portion of the unit.  There will be another STEM opportunity to show learning at the end of this unit.

Social Studies:  Chapter 5, Lesson 3 is "The First Colonies."  

Math: The Unit 4 "sub-unit" quiz will be on Monay, January 12th.  Then we'll have 4 more lessons before our Unit 4 review and test.  Click here to learn more about this unit.

SEL:  Being an effective communicator is our January learner characteristic focus.  Additionally, we will spend time studying Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 

Reading:  Our second module is called What a Story.  Our essential question is "How does genre affect the way a story is told?"  This week, we will use a play to practice reading strategies, learn vocabulary, answer comprehension questions, and practice our RACES paragraph response writings.   There will also be short grammar lessons sprinkled throughout our week.  Don't forget Into Reading has an online component.  Students can reread our stories and practice vocabulary under the "Assignments" tab in Into Reading.    

Science:  We have made it to the "Stars and Their Patterns" portion of the unit.  There will be another STEM opportunity to show learning at the end of this unit.
