12/15/25 - 12/19/25

SEL:  In December, we will use our SEL time to work on the learner characteristic of collaboration.  Additionally, we will learn about winter holidays around the world.

Reading:  Our second module is called What a Story.  Our essential question is "How does genre affect the way a story is told?"  We will use stories, plays, and poems in our reading workbook to practice reading strategies, learn vocabulary, answer comprehension questions, and practice our RACES paragraph response writings.   There will also be short grammar lessons sprinkled throughout our week.  Don't forget Into Reading has an online component.  Students can reread our stories and practice vocabulary under the "Assignments" tab in Into Reading.

Science:  Thanks to Mrs. Gemmell for joining us last week for an Ozobot mini-parade float STEM challenge.   The students had to come up with a creative theme for a mini-float, create it, and code a parade route.  The Ozobot had to move the float along the parade route.  See the creative mini-float designs below.  We will use our science time this week to explore "Earth's Place in Space" and "Stars and Their Patterns."

Social Studies:  Chapter 5, Lesson 2 is called "New European Colonies," and Lesson 3 is "The First Colonies."

Math: We are currently working through Unit 4, which is Dividing Fractions.  The "sub-unit" quiz will come after Lesson 11.  Click here to learn more about this unit.
